چکیده

Few researchers have looked at the mechanical characteristics of rocks that are composed numerous layers various kinds rock. Most strata in practical engineering composite strata, and fracture propagation is frequently to blame for mishaps. The digital image correlation method (DIC) acoustic emission (AE) equipment were used observe crack strike strain field changes specimens resemble with a constructed joint under uniaxial compression order study growth process failure mode rock compression. research focus this paper conduct quantitative qualitative analysis types based on data obtained from DIC test. covariance matrix was introduced quantify dispersion samples dip angles α = 0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°. outcomes as follows: displacement two sides quantified using novel method, determined be tensile (type I), shear II), tension–shear I–II); matrix-based parameter V can describe creation spread process; according rate V, identified (0.12 × 10−4–0.49 10−4), (1.17 10−4–4.5 (0.72 10−4–0.99 10−4).

A boundary element analysis of crack-propagation mechanism of micro-cracks in rock-like specimens under a uniform normal tension

In this work, the mechanism for fracture of brittle substances such as rocks under a uniform normal tension is considered. The oriented straight micro-cracks are mostly created in all the polycrystalline materials resulting from the stress concentrations. The present work focuses on the interactions of the pre-existing micro-cracks, which can grow and propagate within a rock-like specimen. The ...

Effect of Native Fissures on the Mechanical Behaviour of Rock under Uniaxial Compression

Original scientific paper Rock generally contains various micro-cracks, fissures, pores, joints, and other defects. These defects affect the mechanical properties of rock. In order to clarify the influence of native fissures on rock deformation and failure modes, a laboratory study was carried out using the fissured dolomite, and acoustic wave velocity measurement and natural water absorption t...

Determination of Damage Constitutive Behavior for Rock Salt Under Uniaxial Compression Condition with Acoustic Emission

The mechanical characteristics of rock salt have an important influence on the safety of the salt cavity. The acoustic emission (AE) technique was used to analyze the generation of microcracks in rock salt under uniaxial compression condition. By monitoring acoustic emission in whole process of stress strain curve under uniaxial compression test, the damage characteristic of rock salt is obtain...

Buckling of Ge nanowires under uniaxial compression

Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the buckling properties of [100]-, [110]-, [111]-, and [112]-oriented single-crystalline germanium nanowires under uniaxial compression. The effects of simulation temperature, strain rate, and wire length on the buckling behaviour are investigated. The simulation results indicate that critical load clearly decreases with increasing tem...
